On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery Alabama, Rosa Parks, while riding on a segregated bus, refused to give up her seat to a white man. Parks was arrested, resulting in the start of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Parks' action instrumental in initiating the U.S. civil rights movement.
