Edgar Daniel Nixon was one of the key organizers of the Montgomery Alabama Bus Boycott in 1955-56. His enlisting the aid of 26 year old preacher, Martin Luther King Jr., resulted in the beginning of King's rise to prominence. Nixon also led a march in Montgomery calling for an end to practices that resulted in African Americans being blocked from voting.
